DON’T stay here! This couldn’t be further from a 5* hotel. The management don’t care about anything you have to say- it’s a massive place where individual voices are not heard. We checked in with hair stuck on our bathroom walls, freezing room with only a sheet to cover you, parties every night until early hours so our children couldn’t sleep. Children’s pool opens at 10.30am- how stupid. Restaurants all ‘fully booked’ so you have no choice but to eat at the buffet. Slippery floors everywhere you went and even in our room because of the humidity. I had to put blankets on the floor so my children didn’t fall. Broken tiles and dirty facilities. There is nothing 5* about this place. They wouldn’t give us a refund or change our booking for a shorter time no matter what we did. They are thieves who care only about money and not your genuine experience with them. There was no apology for anything we experienced. A stain on the beautiful country of Sri Lanka.
A great hotel, though not 5 star by western standards. As long as you're ok with that aspect, everything else is great. Excellent service throughout, excellent food and selection, and good drinks. Truly all-inclusive, and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Great activities and entertainment every night, nice pools, and easy access to the beach. Overall can't fault it. Great value for money and would return if ever visiting Sri Lanka and looking for an all inclusive.
Absolutely outstanding hotel. Definitely deserving of its 5☆ status. Staff work tirelessly, are polite, friendly, and helpful. Hotel is stunning; modern, fresh, and steps away from the beach, accessed by a private Hotel entrance. Hotel is very clean. The grounds, rooms, restaurants, pools. Very well maintained. We stayed in a family apartment, 2 separate bedrooms. Lovely decor, crisp cold dual controlled air conditioner, 2 bathrooms, plus a view of the sea. The food here was wonderful. Been to many All Inclusive hotels, but this one is leagues ahead in terms of the buffet. So much variety, tasty and quality food. It's runs like a well oiled machine. Stayed here only for a few nights at the end of a tour of Sri Lanka and I am so glad we chose the Riu to end our stay. It's the perfect ending.
Where do I even start with how wonderful this hotel is? The staff first of all, are the friendliest hotel staff I have ever met - always smiling, always happy, always ready to help. The service is impeccable - I never felt like I was missing or in need of anything. The food is authentic, local produce, lots of choices on offer. There is constantly somewhere available for you to eat at any time of the day. Rooms and overall hotel are super clean, pools are lovely and the bar staff create a great atmosphere. The only recommendation I would make to the hotel is that the night time entertainment should be changed a bit, as it is more attractive to an older audience and quite repetitive. A wonderful experience overall. Special mention to Chaminder and his team from the restaurant for making every dining experience fantastic.
I visited Riu Sri Lanka in September 2024, and overall, it was a great experience. The room condition was excellent, even with the Junior Suite. It provided enough space for two kids and two adult, and we appreciated the extra bed that could also be converted into a chair. The welcome was warm and inviting, and there was ample parking space available.The restaurant services were outstanding, with good food quality that compares well to other hotels in the same range. We enjoyed unlimited drinks, coffee, and snacks, which added to the overall value of our stay. The hotel also offered plenty of kids' activities, making it a great choice for families.Riu Sri Lanka offers a comprehensive package that covers all holiday activities in one place, making it well worth the spending amount. The customer service was also top-notch, ensuring a pleasant stay from start to finish. Highly recommended!
As soon as we arrived, the staff were super friendly, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We were all inclusive, so really took advantage. They have decent options and food variety available for each meal, and a couple of restaurants on site you can book to eat at. They have entertainment throughout the day which keeps things fun. A few more cocktail options would be nice, but otherwise we had an amazing time here.
